Hi,

Benign tumors of parotid are far commoner than malignant ones. You should not be worried about it if you get excised. The reasons of these tumors is unknown, but they are investigating a possibility of an adenoma gene involvement in the development of pleomorphic adenomas of parotid.

Believe in your surgeon, he should be hands on many such cases. He will not injure the nerve.
