Question: Doctor
My wife 36 yrs old was very normal and lovable person. Last March 2016 suddenly went to depression and hospitalised due to unusual behaviour. Within a week she was ok returned to normal after taking oleanz. Then may 2016 she was on depression mood so she was on c pram 10 mg along with 2.5 mg oleanz. Then she was normal as before, we had a good enjoyable moments for almost 2 years, we have two children one is 15 yrs and other one 9 yrs, we went to foreign country tours happily, suddenly last Wednesday she lost her sleep and immediately we took clonotril 50 mg 2 times as per doctor advice, we did not find a single point or symptoms in this regard,
After that doctor suggested to take quitipin 50 mg ngight. She slept well on Saturday and Sunday night. But yesterday night she lost her sleep and had arguments and she was not normal. As per our doctor advice she took 100mg in the morning and it will be twice daily, doctor said as we met him on early stage of this episode, she will be normal within 5 days
Pl guide me for
1. Why this happened befor 2 years
2. Without any symptoms how it relapsed again even though she was happy just one day before the occurrence,
3. Quitipin is a good drug
4 how long it will take to stabilise the thoughts
5 is it safe drug
6 are we in right track
We are upset and worried my self and children

Pl advice and guide me to proceed

Brief Answer:
My suggestion.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

It might happen to anyone, at anytime, either with stressor or without stressor.

It would happen suddenly due to relapse either due to incomplete course of treatment in the first time.

Yes, Quetiapine is a good drug and safe drug, it would take around 2 -4 weeks to respond effectively.

Hope this information would help you. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

She will become stable in 2-3 days, but it might take around 2 -4 weeks for complete response like if she has any other psychotic symptoms, like suspicion.

Once, she is stabilized, she can practice meditation for a better way of life.

Brief Answer:
My suggestion.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I would like to advise you to start antidepressants like Escitalopram along with Quetiapine.

I would suspect that she might have some anxiety symptoms along with it.

Please look for dis-inhibited behavior, irritability, aggressiveness, excitement and over talkativeness.

If these symptoms are present, it might be related to mood disorder and needs to be stabilized with mood stabilizers like Sodium valproate.

Please provide these details to help you.

Hope this information would help you.
