What Would Cause Elevated Liver Enzymes In A Healthy 23 Year Old Male?

Question: What would cause elevated liver enzymes in a healthy 23 year old male? He is thin. Drinks alcohol approx 2 times a week (4 -6 drinks a week). Does not take antibiotics nor OTC pain relievers such as Tylenol, Advil etc. Some issues with watery bowel movements. Takes Propecia. Does not take any other medications.
Brief Answer:
It has no significance.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Have seen you details,
Minimum 3 times elevation(upper normal limit) of at least two enzymes has any significance.
So mild alterations are not clinically significant.
As you have not attached the reports I guess the elevations are just small and so are clinically insignificant.
The only thing I would recommend is an upper abdomen ultrasonography to rule of early onset of fatty liver(A normal aeging process which starts after 30).
Thank you.
It has no significance.

Below are my son’s test results. Is this considered high? What would be causing this? Is this considered significant? What do you recommend?
Aspartate Amino Transferase = 157 out of range of <34
Alanine aminotransferase = 113 out of range of 10-49
Albumin amino = 4.9. Out of range of 3.2-4.8
Thank you for your help.

Brief Answer:
Follow up.
Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
Why is he taking finasteride?
It effect the liver and can cause liver injuries.
An ultrasound upper abdomen is suggested.
Yes his liver enzyme is significantly raised...and an ultrasound should be done to look for fatty liver or any liver injury.
Thank you.

He is taking Propecia because he has aggressive androgenic hair loss which started in high school. Several doctors assured us that finasteride does not affect liver. I see that you are advising that there is most definitely a causal affect. I will have him stop taking. Would any damage caused by Finasteride be reversible?
Brief Answer:
Follow up.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again my dear,
Liver is the only organ of body which has extreme regenerative properties.
Instead of finasteride he can try Minoxidil topical 10% solution.
A temporary discontinuation of the drug would give time to liver to heal.
Thank you!
