Question: When I lay down at night on my right side, when I exhale I can hear squeaking from my lungs. I also have a crackle. This only happens at night. What the heck is going on and should I see someone?

Brief Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Detailed Answer:

There might be some issues with the gaseous exchange when you take a particular posture.
I need some other information s like are you overweight,do you smoke,is there any co morbidity present( like hypertension, diabetes etc),is there any significant family history specially of cardiac or respiratory disease....etc.
For the time being, lie with your head up by around 45 degrees. This will relieve the pressure of abdominal contents on the diaphragm and you can breath easier.
Try to lie more in left lateral decubitus.Lying down too soon after eating may also cause issues. Most of the time, there is more of acid re flux when we lie on right so this may be due to regurgitating food up your esophagus.
Take your dinner early and keep it light.Keep at least a gap of 2 hrs between your dinner and sleep.
If the trouble continues,it is a cause of concern and you should book an appointment with your clinician to rule out many possible conditions related to heart and lung.He might procure your chest radio graph and subject you to some blood tests.
Hope I have answered your query.
