Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Yes, you are very right that raised ESR and raised CRP are signs of inflammation .However these are very non specific test , and does not tell us as what type of inflammation and where is going on .Any inflammation ( like infection , autoimmune , joint or skin problems )anywhere in the body can raise the level .So from its level we cannot say where is the inflammation however this alerts us and we should search for it.

To search it we need a good history. Like do you feel any problem any where in the body .like if you have joint pains , we may say this may be from diseases of the joint ( and hence tests for it).if you have cough we may say This inflammation may be from lung diseases .similarly infection any where in the body can also raise both the markers .

So it depends on history and examination of the patient to know where is the inflammation. So either you could share with us if you have any problem anywhere in your body or you get an appointment with your doctor who would assess you as where can be the inflammation. If you feel no problem then we can just repeat the tests after some time.

Hope it's clear now. Let us know if you have any further question or anything else to share with us .I would be glad to answer your question.
