When Does One Experience Chronic Anemia And A Slow Bleed Somewhere Internally?

Question: For over a year I have has a very low iron count. Tot ry and find the cause II have had a colonoscopy a gyroscopic,, 2 transfusions of blood and an iron in fusion, each time I feel a little better, but my doctor rang me this morning and said that my iron was very low again, and he wants to give me another iron infusion at XXXX hospital on Tuesday morning .He says I obviously have a slow bleed, and his next step maybe for me to swallow a camera. He did mention what it might be but I can't remember. Are you able to help me?

Most likely your doctor is suspecting of iron deficiency anemia. There are number of types of anemia. By endoscopy he is going to rule out any ulcers in duodenum or stomach. These ulcers acts as a site of bleed and causes lose of 10 to 15 ml of blood daily which in long runs result in severe anemia. This test is called endoscopy. In case ulcers are there you would be treated with antacids and sucralfate for 3 months. Some times these ulcers are caused by a bacterium named H. pylori; Endoscopy is going to help with that.
