When Eating My Throat Feels Like It Getting Blocked And

Some treatment recommended and further steps as well
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor" service,
I carefully read your query and here is my advice.
Because your symptoms are for a short period of time, it is worth trying some medications that reduce the acidity in your stomach and throat.
I would recommend you to take Omeprazole 20 mg, 2 capsules 30 minutes before breakfast for 2-3 weeks. You should not use antiacids (soluble antiacids, or sodium bicarbonate) while you use omeprazole as this might reduce the effect of omeprazole. A bronchodilator like salbutamol may also be needed.
Meanwhile you should try to avoid spicy food, coffee, alcohol and smoking (even passive smoking) as these make acid reflux worse.
Try to eat frequent small amount of food (better have 5 small meals than 2-3 big ones) and drink frequent small amount of fluids. Avoid food the last 3 hours before bed time.
If you notice no improvement of the symptoms in 2 weeks or you notice any worsening, or if you have experienced some weight loss the last few months, it is best that you see a doctor and have proper examination and possibly an upper endoscopy (examination of the stomach with a tube with a camera).
I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
