When I Am Urinating, Urine Starts Normally And I Suddenly Feel A Sharp Prick While Urinating

Question: Hello, so this has happened 8 times in the last 2 months. When i am urinating, urine starts normally and I suddenly feel a sharp prick while urinating. The urine colour is normal on every ocassion. After I complete urination I can see couple drops of blood mixed with urine leaking out. The blood happens only when i feel the pricks and this has happened only 8 times in the last 2 months. All other urination is normal. Urine test is normal, ultrasound of kidney bladder etc is normal. Only when i feel the prick, there are couple drops of blood post urine. Urine colour is normal otherwise.

Hi ,
1. -urinary caliculi..forming small stones of concentrated minerals in urine.When such caliculi enter urethra...it causes temporary obstruction in passage causing pain & &friction thus caused leads to drop of blood at the end of urination./ some infection of urinary passage can cause such symptoms too .But here there is accompanying fever with river ,burning in urination .You don't seem to have these ...so your seem to have renal caliculi only.
* These caliculi are of various types&specific treatment depends on typing of the caliculi.
** Home care-Drink plenty of water through out day.Tab.Cystone over the counter taken 2 pills three times a day with a glass of water..would help..specially less water intake&more sweating causing concentrated urine in summser days.
**In case of no relief or aggravation of symptoms need consultation of. kidney specialist,few needful investigations &specific treatment to follow.

Hello. Thank you for the reply. I did a contrast Ct urogram and ultra sound , neither show any stone. Could it be missed. ?

- Yes, stones smaller than 3mm may not be evident in the scan you had.
Such stones can pass out easily..but while going through urethra.cause pain&friction leading to blood drop in the end(specially in oxilate stones)
possibility of such stone can be judged by doing microscopic test of urine...where oxilate salts&crystals can be detected.
-Next possibility is exposure to very strong summer/strong heat or... urine also gets concentrated after avoiding urination for long time&as well as drinking less water.(must have at least 12 glasses of water consumption in summer)This condition is easily treated well by self care(as suggested in previous answer.)
-Sometimes kidney infection without typical symptoms can cause the symptoms..like you..This needs to be excluded by urine routine check up&culture sensitivity test if needful.

Ok thanks. I have been on alkaston for 10 days and had this incidence once since I started. Should I continue alkaston or move to cystone or take both.

Alkaston has same action of preventing crystallisation of salts in urine& thus preventing stone formation.
Alkastone is more specific allopathic drug.You can continue taking Alkastone as it suits you.It is an allopathic preparation...&may occasionally cause increased heart rate on prolonged intake...so be careful & be in touch with your doctor.,
Cystone being an Ayurvedic preparation..helping over all kidney health...also has very less side effects.
In my view after the symptoms are gone for a month...only dietory restrictions,water intake &Cystone would be helpful for prevention sake (even for 6 months if needed)..please decide it with your doctor's consultation.
Drink lot of water.
In addition avoid eating oxilate containing food like tomatoes(those things with many tiny seeds inside) beans,berries,bear,chocolate,coffee,dark green vegetables etc.

Thank you I will continue as advised by you. At what point should this stop. And how long before i should be worried. If this happens again on 1 or 2 more occasions should I schedule a cystoscopy considering my urine routine , urine culture , contrast ct Urogram, ultrasound are all normal and this has been happening for more than 44 days now on 8 to 9 ocassions
