When Is Amniocentesis Suggested During Pregnancy?
My Wife is Pregnant with 13 Weeks and 6 Days .
We have gone through NT-NB scan on 02/07/2018 .
The scan was normal with NT - 2.10 mm , Nasal Bone Present , CRL - 59.70 mm.
After that we have Double Market Test with Following Results :
BETA HCG- 3.84 MOM
PAPP-A = 0.88 MOM
NT = 1.30 MOM
The Risk of Trisomy came about 1:252 just above cutoff - 1:250 but screen negative . Now My Fetal Medicine Expert suggesting to through Amniocenthesis to confirm or NIPT .
My Gynecologist suggesting to wait for quad marker in week 16th and a scan to get more confirmation.
Now My wife doesn't want to go through needle work when risk is low it's just 0.004%
which is also case less than Amnio miscarriage Percentage.
Could you please give your suggestion also to explore options .
Regards

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I don’t think amniocentesis is required. You can consider not to do it.
On the other hand amniocentesis is the only way to be hundred percent sure that baby is normal and miscarriage rates are very very low if done by expert.
Let me know where was this scan done? Which doctor and which city.
