Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .
Urolift procedure for BPH is generally advised in young patients with a relatively small to moderate sized prostate gland who do not want to take a daily dose of medication and are active in sex life .
This is new technique minimally invasive technique invented few years ago and being practiced in few centers in US and western countries In this procedure obstructing lateral lobes of prostate are retracted by an implant placed endoscopicaly in prostatic part of urethra to make the urinary passage free of obstruction by enlarged prostate gland .
The foremost advantage of this procedure is that it can be performed under local anesthesia as a office procedure and it has no side effect of erectile dysfunction and retrograde ejaculation that is commonly associated with other endoscopic procedures like TURP or Laser surgery etc.
This being a new technique very few centers in U.S are advocating this modality
This is being done by Dr XXXXXXX at Los Angeles.
