Question: my wife will complete her first trimester on 8th November, when should we go for 2nd ultrasound . On 1st ultrasound everything was normal and baby heartbeats was 140 bps

If the first trimester sonogram has corresponded with the age of pregnancy, she may get a nuchal translucency scan with combined screening and a dating scan between 11-14 weeks.

Dating scan helps to predict the expected date of delivery while combined screening helps to exclude the possibility of occurrence of Down's syndrome. In the latter, two hormones observed at this stage of the pregnancy are also measured and together with the maternal age, the risk is calculated.

Anomaly scan can be done at 20-22 weeks again to rule out some more anomalies.
