Question: When problem started

In Year 2011 I bumped into cemented platform and had hit myself above my head ( just above the forehead) where we wear Manng Teeka. For 4-5 days I had swelling on that area. After some days I was at office and I started a sudden gushing feeling as if something is coming above from my feet. As soon as those waves came to my chest I was choked and breathless and felt as if I would faint. I was rushed to emergency and was given some relaxation medicines. This kept on going for a while as I felt like this often and went to neurologist who said it was panic attack and since then I get such gush of attack.

Did all my test like brain MRI and so on..was on medicines like Duzela, Petril, Betacap..did all investigations of heart, blood tests and everything and since past 3-4 years I was on constant medicine Duzela 30 BD, Betacap 20 in morning and Petril SOS. I was alright and was kind of Ok. In between whenever I had small episodes I always felt some tingling in the feet and hands and some drained kind of feeling above head. It always increased my BP to some points and high pulse rate around 125-130 beats

Problem Now

Since past 15 days Im facing strange feeling above my head, near temples, upper part of nose and lips and all 4 limbs. I feel heaviness there and a feeling as if some covering or layer is present on touch. Sensation as if I have touched chillies..Whole network of nerves I can feel in my limbs. Initially I thought that this is anxiety and checked BP and pulse is fine. I don’t know whats happening. My doctor is outside country and I have spoken to him he changed medicine and gave below.

Gabapentin NT 100- One tab before sleep

Etilam pro 0.5/20 – One before bed

Duzela 30- BD

Recent Tests-Did NCV lower limbs which said Sensory motor neuropathy in both limbs. Blood tests B12 is 184, Vit D 30, TSH 1.9, Hb 10.2, HS CRP- 7.2. Rest LFT, KFT were fine

Other Issues- Iam hypothyroid since last 15 years. Taking 125 mcg thyronorm, Insulin resistence hence taking Glycomet 500 BD. Iam overweight and weighs 90kg. Age 41 years

I have cervical spondilytis, Back ache and tail bone pain

My Concern- Iam really scared as to whats happening with me. Am I on right medication? Will I be able to get over it? Is it due to my injury which happened? But all my CT scans and Brain MRI’s were ok. Is it neuropathy or something else?

Brief Answer:
Cervical spine should be cleared before to say neuropathy for sure.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for the query here at the "Ask a Doctor" service.

I have read your question.

Since you have cervical spondylitis and a history of trauma, in my opinion, the cervical spine should be evaluated further with imaging for possible stenosis, instability, etc. that may justify at least a part of your symptoms.

Dynamic x-rays ( flexed, neutral, and extended head and neck) and cervical spine MRI are necessary for this purpose.

If the cervical spine will be cleared after such evaluations, we can say that your symptoms are related to peripheral neuropathy.

I think the medications that you are using are okay for now. Whatever the cause, there are good chances of treatment and improvement in your case. The injury may have played a part if any problems with your cervical spine will be noticed after the evaluation.

Hope you found the answer helpful.
