When Should BP Medicine Be Taken?
Question: Is it better to take blood pressure medicine upon waking, or before going to bed? And is there any reason my blood pressure is only high when I first wake up?
Brief Answer:
It is better to take the medication in the evening
Detailed Answer:
Dear Mrs,
In most patient blood pressure is high in early morning upon waking up. It is better to take medication before going to bed, it will prevent morning rise of blood pressure. If it doesn't help, then the dose should be increased.
Take care

Thank you for your answer, can high blood pressure be brought in by anxiety? And if so, is it better to treat the anxiety with medication or the blood pressure?
Brief Answer:
Welcome back
Detailed Answer:
Anxiety can cause some rise in blood pressure.
They should be treated simultaneously. If high blood pressure disappears with anxiety, then we stop the medications for high blood pressure, but you should continue blood pressure medications as long as you have high blood pressure.
Wishing you good health

So I didn't understand your reply, you said if high blood pressure disappears with anxiety? Then you stop the high blood pressure medication? Do you mean if high blood pressure disappears with anxiety medication ? Please clarify thank you
Brief Answer:
Welcome back
Detailed Answer:
Dear Mrs,
You should receive medications for both anxiety and blood pressure. After some time, when your anxiety is well controlled, there may be an opportunity to withdraw blood pressure medication. High blood pressure may disappear after the anxiety is treated if it is caused by anxiety. But you should know that it is individual. And your doctor will evaluate it after some time.
