When Should I Check My Platelets Any Natural Food To Increase Platelets Counts ?

default
Posted on Tue, 23 Jul 2024
Question: Hi, I had a dengue negative report, but platelets were down to 130000. This is my 4th day after I started to feel different. My doctor says report can be false negative and since platelets are down it should be dengue. I had all symptoms of dengue though… body pain, fever etc., Question (1) Can dengue report be false negative (2) when should I check my platelets next ? (3) Any natural food to increase platelets counts (4) My palms have started itching since yesterday, is it normal and what does this indicate?

Brief Answer:
Needs re testing

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query

Dengue test is usually done as a profile with three different assessments. NS1 antigen, IgM and IgG antibodies.

Its rarely possible that all come back negative as a false negative result.

Re Testing might always help or MAC ELISA is a newer technique which is a confirmatory testing method.

1. Yes, bottom line...there can be false negative dengue test results
2. It is advised to check platelets every alternate days till there is no drop in two consecutive tests
3.Good hydration and Citrus fruits are known to help
4.itchy palms can be seen in dengue and most other viral fevers.

Hope, I answered your query

Wishing you good health

Regards
