When Should Free T3 And T4 Be Tested While T3, T4 And TSH Levels Estimations Are Done Showing TSH As Borderline High?
Follow the advice
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Yes, you've read it right, as from your description it seems like total T3, T4 estimation was done. The measured TSH level is borderline high.
So, for further management, free T3,T4 (fT3,fT4) estimation should be done along with anti-TPO antibodies to look for the complete assessment of the Thyroid gland.
In future also, please try to get free T3, T4 estimation only. As they're superior to total T3, T4 simply because they're the most active ones, and fT3 fT4 actually shows how much of the hormone is available for use by our body.
Not to worry. Management can be done based on the findings. If found to be having a deficiency, appropriate supplementation therapy (Thyroxine supplements) should be started by your doctor after examining you clinically.
Let me know if I can assist you further. Take Care.
