Brief Answer: Within 7 days Detailed Answer: Hi Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic. Deviry is medroxyprogesterone. It is given to induce withdrawal bleed. The withdrawal bleed should happen within 7 days of stopping the medicine. Mostly it starts around the 5th day. Hope it helps. Let me know if I can assist you further. Dr Vaishalee

Brief Answer: Many causes for irregular periods Detailed Answer: Hi again Side effects of this medicine are usually mild and resemble premenstrual tension. The side effects include temporary weight gain, breast pain, mild headache, some sadness, bloating, etc. Irregular periods are usually caused by hormonal imbalance and even anovulation. There are many conditions that can produce hormonal imbalance like stress, less eating, acute weight loss, excessive exercise, thyroid issues, medicines, diabetes, illness, etc. Tests are available that will help rule out the above mentioned conditions. The tests can include ultrasound pelvis, blood tests including female hormone evaluation, pap smear (if you are sexually active), etc. I would like to know details about your menstrual periods like duration of bleeding, after how much time does bleeding happen, how much is the bleeding, do you have any discharge or infection, etc. Hope it helps. Brief Answer: wait for few more days Detailed Answer: Hi XXXX, Please wait for a few more days. It can take up to 10 days for Divery to act. Mostly, you should get your periods in next couple of days. I urge you to be patient and wait for it. If possible, please upload the ultrasound report here on this query page. I would like to look at it as well. You need to get your other tests done as I have told in my earlier reply. These would include tests for thyroid dysfunction, hormonal evaluation, PAP smear, diabetes check accordingly. Get well soon.

Brief Answer: You will get periods Detailed Answer: Hi again, You will get your periods. If you did not get your periods with one round of progesterone, you can take second round of progesterone and wait for withdrawal bleed. I hope your doctor had ruled out of pregnancy before prescribing progesterone. If not get it checked. There are two ways to check it- urine pregnancy test kit and blood pregnancy test done at lab. The urine pregnancy test kit is available at most pharmacies and you can check it at the comfort of your home. Your doctor is right. There are two conditions- one is polycystic ovaries and second is polycystic ovarian syndrome. Polycystic ovaries means detection of cysts in ovaries on ultrasound (which happened already for you). Polycystic ovarian syndrome is diagnosed when there are one or more of the following symptoms and signs are also present alongwith polycystic ovaries: - hyperandrogenism (hirsutism, acne, alopecia), - obesity, - menstrual cycle disturbance (oligo/amenorrhea) and - biochemical abnormalities (hypersecretion of testosterone, luteinizing hormone and insulin). So after ruling out pregnancy, you can either take a second round of progesterone or you can wait patiently for your periods to happen naturally (whenever it happens). It should not affect your health much other than few symptoms like weight gain, irritability etc. Hope it helps. Let me know if I can assist you further. Dr Vaishalee

Brief Answer: It may be PCOS Detailed Answer: Hi again, If you are not pregnant and ultrasound shows polycystic ovaries, It is possible that you are developing polycystic ovarian syndrome. In polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), it is usual to get periods after long intervals. Now I am not sure if you are having other symptoms of polycystic overian syndrome as well. Metformin and weight loss help to control PCOS but there is no cure. Hope it helps. Dr Vaishalee
