When Would One Experience Deep Muscle Pain In The Chest Area?
I am going to go back to bed. If you come up with something, just send me an email and I will check it later. My wife had me check out pleurisy symptoms. The main symptom seems like it could match up with what I am experiencing. sure hope not since that does not appear to be easily cured. XXXXXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Regarding your concern, I would explain that it is important performing a comprehensive differential diagnosis between different possible causes that may lead to your complaints: coronary artery disease, gastroesophageal reflux or a musculo-skeletal pain.
For this reason, if the pain persists, I recommend going to the ER for a physical exam and some tests :
- a resting ECG and cardiac enzymes
- a chest X ray study
- complete blood count, PCR, ESR for inflammation.
In the meantime, I recommend taking acetaminophen 500mg 1 tab and an antiacid or PPI (omeprazole, pantoprazole, ,etc.).
If the pain is triggered by deep breathing, manual pressure on the chest or body movements, it could be indicative of a musculo-skeletal pain.
Nevertheless, even if the pain is relieved, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician and performing the above mentioned tests, followed by a cardiac ultrasound and a fibrogastroscopy.
If the chest pain is related to eating or bending over, a fibrogastroscopy may be needed.
Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Wishing all the best,
Dr. Iliri
