Brief Answer:
Different possible causes

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Itching in the localized area usually means that the specific area may have n infection or may have come into contact with an allergen ( eg cream or any other agent that may only have been applied to that specific re)

Allergic reactions due to medications or food usually cause generalized response because of the allergen ( item causing the allergic reaction). This means that any itching or an allergic reaction should occur in more than one area.

In terms of infection - fungal infections are the min type of infection that causes itching. This is treated with an antifungal cream eg ketoconazole, clotrimazole, miconazole, etc

If it is an allergic reaction or irritation of the skin in that particular area, a mild steroid cream might be helpful. eg hydrocortisone cream

Your doctor would be able to say which, if any of these, are present.

If you cannot be assessed at this time, then using an antifungal and mild steroid cream can be used until you can be seen if it does not improve with treatment.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
