Which Birth Control Pills Contain High Doses Of Progesterone?
Birth control pills are drescribed as below.
Detailed Answer:
Hello Dear,
Thanks for writing to us. Followings are my comments:
1) Birth control pills, having LOW dose estrogen (35 micro gram or less), are called LOW dose pill. Amount of progesterone is almost fixed. These include: XXXXXXX Levora, Ortho-Tri-Cyclen Lo etc.
There is another set of birth control pill, called "Ultra-low-dose" pills, having just 20 micro gram of estrogen. These include: Mircette, Yaz, Lo Loestrin Fe etc.
2) Norethisterone and Medroxyprogesterone Acetate group of pills are used to control or reduce period bleeding. You should take complete prescription for the same.
Another set of birth control pill is there for NO period in a year like LYBREL (you need to take it for 365 days). SEASONALE has 12 weeks of estrogen/progestin pills, followed by 7 days of no-hormone pill, which gives 4 periods in a year.
Hope, I have answered your query. Wish your good health and take care.
