Brief Answer:
His medications need adjustment

Detailed Answer:
Hello

I can understand your concern about your fathers health and I would like to tell you that the medications which he is on for hypertension are not adequately controlling his bp.

The usual cause of high bp with age is stiffness that happens in blood vessels with age.

Discuss with your treating doctor and then you can Start him on Telma Am 40/5 One tab at 9am and monitor the blood pressure daily morning and evening for a week.

Also some blood tests needs to be done
1. CBC
2. RFT, Electrolytes
3. ECG, Echocardiogram

Thank you sir for your response.
1) Is this much of high BP(190/160) is common with old age people?

2) Do we have to stop the current medications and only to start with Telma Am 40/5 ?.No other medications required right?

3) as tablets will help to control the BP. How we can find the root cause of the high BP? So that we can work on it. I mean is there any blockage or kidney issues that is causing the high BP.
Should we try to find out the reason for high BP or we can rely on the medications only?

Brief Answer:
Hello again

Detailed Answer:
Ideally if his bp is still the same you should take him to any good nearby hospital emergency.

You can take Telma AM combination as suggested in morning and then Tab Amlong 5 mg in evening around 8pm (That’s it). We should not be very aggressive on lowering the blood pressure.

Monitoring and charting of his bp twice daily is required to understand the trends for atleast a week.

I have already suggested some required investigations.

kindly discuss with your primary doctor and get a prescription of medications and investigations.
