Which One Of Typbar TCV Vaccine And Ordinary Typhoid Vaccine Is Good For A 2 Year Old Child?
This query is for my 2 year old son: My son's DoB is 21-09-2012. The next vaccination due is Typhoid. from my previous questions, I hvae the answers about typbar tcv and ordinary typhoid vaccine (Thanks to Dr Arun). In addition to these vaccinations, my doctor is suggesting another vaccination which is two shots (with a gap of one month) costing Rs 500/- each protective for 10 years.
So now please suggest:
1. typbar tcv hwich is better in giving more than 10 years protection, or
2. Ordinary typhoid vaccine protective only for 3 years and revaccination is required every 3 years, or
3. My Doctor's sugested two shots of vaccinations within one month protective for 10 years.
Please reply.
Thanks for your help.

My option will be TypbarTCV
Detailed Answer:
Hi.. XXXXXXX XXXXXXX I thank you for commending my colleague Dr. XXXXXXX he is a personal friend of mine and is very good.
The answer to you question will be to go ahead with TypbarTCV which is good and we can avoid giving a shot every 3 years once. Advantage is that, it is a single shot.
To reiterate the fact, I am herewith giving you the recommended schedule -
The immunizing dose for adults and children above 6 months of age and older is a single dose of 0.5 mL. But for XXXXXXX scenario where in typhoid is endemic here, we (Indian race) remain at risk of typhoid fever and we should be should be given a single booster dose of the vaccine with an interval of not more than 3 years.
I am not aware of any 2 dose schedule vaccine costing 500INR each.
Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.
