Which Sounds Serious To Me Thoughts I Started Having Itching And Joint Pain, And Muscle Pain ?

Question: I started having itching and joint pain, and muscle pain. My doctor did a few blood test. Sed Rate and C reactive protein was normal. My Creatine Kanise level was high. Please note, I was working out/ exercising very hard a few days prior. He also checked my bilirubin to insure my liver wasn’t causing the issue. It was normal. He said based upon my itching and muscle breakdown, his best guess was dermatonyositis. Which sounds serious to me thoughts.
Brief Answer:
It is suggestive of dermatomyositis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
A rise in creatinine kinase levels with joint pains, myalgia and itching is suggestive of dermatomyositis. The diagnosis is mostly based on clinical symptoms and their severity.
You can start with anti inflammatory pain killers and rest. Get the creatinine kinase levels checked again after 4 weeks and in case the levels come back to normal then there is nothing to worry.
Hope this answer is helpful.
Any follow up questions are welcome.

Thanks for the information. I don’t have a rash of any kind. From what I read it’s always accompanied by a reddish/ purple rash. Is this true?
Brief Answer:
Rash is usually present.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The presentations can be varied and a rash is usually seen in dermatomyositis. But absence of rash does not completely exclude the possibility of having dermatomyositis. The clinical presentations can be variable.
