Posted on Tue, 22 Sep 2015
Question: My husband had a severe sneezing attack and as a result an excruciating headache developed, he passed out and hit his head on the right side. He developed a blood clot which burst. They went in and cleaned it out but then he developed fluid on the brain which was drained 3 times. Subsequent ct scans showed no tumors or further clots. He's in a hospital in Germany and I'm in Florida. What type of hospital should he be transferred to at this point and what type of specialist(s) should he be seeing?

Brief Answer:
Continue under treating specialist and hospital if improving

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
According to your narration its seems he suffered subdural or extradural hematoma which was drained.
As follow up CT is normal and his sensorium improving then you should keep him to the same hospital.
Military hospitals are usually good with specialist available at there regional centers and are also having latest equipments.
The specialist for consultation should be a neurosurgeon for him.
Hope he recovers soon.
God bless him.
