52 year old women, had fibroid embolization september 2011, then no period until now started mid may for almost 2 weeks, 1st week light, second week heavy and bright red, last 2 1/2 days been tampon per hour, seems to be letting up but is now back to bright red

Thanks for your query.

Since bleeding is getting as time passes, it is essential for you to get evaluated in detail. There may be need for ultrasonography first followed by Hysteroscopy. Hysteroscopy will be done only after bleeding is stopped by medication.

Do not strain yourself, any sort of heavy work can increase the intra abdominal pressure and can cause bleeding to increase.

Also, post menopausal bleed could be secondary to mass or recurrence of fibroids, ultrasound scan can help one to rule out the same.
