Brief Answer:
hormonal imbalance / pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

Please wait for another week for the UPT to be conclusive. Serum HCG a blood test can ascertain or rule out pregnancy now, you can get the same done. Spotting and absence of periods can be pregnancy unless ruled out.

The other common cause for such delayed periods and spotting could be hormonal imbalance. Sometimes such imbalance can be natural and most of times could be secondary to intake of some high-dose hormone medications to postpone periods, birth control, emergency contraceptives etc.

A hormonal imbalance either natural or due to medications can be self-limiting and you will resume your periods naturally. There is no need for any sort of intervention.

Hope, I answered your query.

Wish you good health.

Regards,
