Why I Have Lost So Much Weight ?
Question: Hi Doctor - I'm a 31 year old female who is a mother of a two year old. Recently people tell me I have lost so much weight and I don't look healthy. I am sure I'm healthy. But listening to these comments every now and then makes me worry should I consult a doctor.
Brief Answer:
You can track your weight at home
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Best is to regularly check your weight at home. If you know your current weight and height, you send share with me and I can let you know if there is something to worry. If you can also send me your previous weight records, that will also be helpful. Mostly weight changes happen after the baby birth. These weight changes are normal.
Basic blood tests should be done annually.

Thank you Doctor- My height is 153.5 cm. My pre- pregnancy weight was around 53 and by the time I gave birth I was 67. My current weight is around 51 Kg.
Brief Answer:
Body mass index is normal
Detailed Answer:
Hi again
Your body mass index is currently normal. I don't think there is any abnormality.
However it is unusual to have a weight lower than pre-pregnancy. So I will recommend gynecologic visit to just rule out any issues. You may also go for basic blood tests including complete blood count, serum electrolytes, kidney function tests, liver function tests, thyroid profile and lets see if something shows up on this.
Meanwhile watch your diet. You may increase the intake of high calorie foods like sweets, butter, ghee, milk shakes, ice cream, etc.
