Hi,

Thanks for sharing your health concern with us. I have gone through your query and would like to offer my opinion.

The emergency contraceptive pill contains a high amount of progesterone and this can cause some withdrawal bleed as you have noticed and can also delay the next natural period by a week or two.

So, you can wait for a week after your due date and then go for further management.

A home pregnancy test will read well when done at least 3-10 days after the missed period. An estimate of the serum beta-hCG titers is an earlier and better way to assess if in doubt.

Hope your query has been clarified. Please feel free to contact if you need anything else. I will be happy to help.

Hello,

Thanks for writing back.

Firstly, you can wait for a few more days for your period to return. If there is no response, you have to exclude pregnancy before using any medication to induce a period. This can be done using an estimation of serum beta-hCG titers and/or a trans-vaginal sonogram of the pelvis.

If negative, the period is induced using progesterone supplements.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Shanti.V.
