default
Posted on Tue, 24 Dec 2024
Question: I have taken three different high blood pressure medications today because my blood pressure was very high due to meth use, I took 40mgs of lisinopril early this morning and it lowered my blood pressure for a while but then it started going higher and higher so I looked online at different sites trying to get advice on how to lower it so I then at about 6:30 this afternoon took 10mgs amlodipine and 100mgs metoprolol. My blood pressure was 141/111 and my heart rate was 125 will I be ok and not overdose on blood pressure medication?

Brief Answer:
Hope you have a good health

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for your question and I hope I can be of help to you today.

I am sorry to hear about this. For hypertension urgency, without symptoms, we treat with medicine. How quickly should the blood pressure be reduced is over a period of hours to days, although slower reductions may be needed in older adult patients at high risk for cerebral or myocardial ischemia resulting from the excessively rapid reduction of blood pressure. The target during high blood pressure should usually be lowered to 160/100 mmHg. And we need to observe you at the hospital during this treatment to control your blood pressure. Your medicines used for high blood pressure are long-active medicine. Usually, I would like to recommend you to observe at the hospital, the doctor needs to rule out any end-organ damage while you have BP is high and lower your blood pressure step by step by observing your BP.

I hope that I could be of help to you today. Please let me know if you need any clarification. If you have any more questions, I will discuss them with you further. Wishing you good health.
