Why Am I Experiencing A Strange Prolonged Period Followed By Spotting?

Question: For the past month I have experienced a strange prolonged period followed by spotting. I went to my gyno had an ultrasound which showed uterine thickening and am scheduled for a d and c in three weeks. I was give 10mg of medroxyprogesterone to help with bleeding and help shed lining. Last night took last pill this afternoon I began cramping and my light spotting went into a heavier flow. I thought the withdrawal bleeding takes a few days to kick in not while on it? Should I expect a full fledge period this soon while on the progesterone. I also had blood tests which sho w that I am in the perimenopausal stage.

Hello dear,
I have gone through your history and understand your concerns.
As per your description these symptoms could be due to hormonal imbalance. ( perimenopausal stage)
But as you are having irregular period it could be an anovulatory cycle.
You are right, usually spotting or bleeding starts within one week after stopping the medicine but in your case it is full period due to thickened endometrium and hormonal changes.
Get your thyroid profile and hemoglobin test also.
For excessive bleeding you can use medication.
you have to take high protein diet and lots of vegetables and fruits, you can take iron and calcium supplements.
It is normal at your age to bleed like this due to hormonal changes because of your age,no need to worry about it.

Is it typical to experience menstral like cramping while one last pill or two of script. I normally do not cramp that much. Is the cramping in anticipation of withdrawal bleed. Also flow slowed down this morning but still cramping. What can I take for cramps can not take Advil or Motrin due to stomach problems along with high blood pressure?

Dysmenorrhoea ( cramps) could be due to hormonal imbalance or could be anticipation of withdrawal bleeding.
It is part of your menstrual irregularities, no need to worry about it.
You can take hot fomentation, high protein diet and lots of vegetables and fruits.
You can take analgesic for the same.

My menstral flow escalated a few days after completing medroxyprogesterone script to a very heavy period with bad cramping. I have also noticed passing of blood clots at time. Is this just a reaction to medication and my thickened lining shedding. How much iron should I take a day? Should I be overly concerned?
