Why Am I Having Chest Pain Radiating To My Neck, Back, And Arms For The Past Two Weeks While On Buspar, Propranolol, Abilify And Cogentin?

Question: Hello, I am taking 500 mg depakote at night, 15 mg buspar three times a day, 20 mg propranolol three times a day, 10 mg of abilify in the morning, and 1 mg cogentin twice a day. I have been having chest pain that radiates to my neck, back, and arms for the past two weeks. It feels like it's medication induced. I got an ekg, bloodwork, chest x-ray, and heart monitoring done at the ER and everything was normal. So do you think this chest pain is anything serious? Also, I took 20 mg abilify and 2 mg cogentin for three weeks and then I've been taking 10 mg of abilify and 2 mg cogentin for 8 days. So is it okay for me to stop the abilify and cogentin because I'm afraid that's what's causing my chest pain?

Brief Answer:
This could be due to anxiety

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I can understand your problem. Your ECG and other tests are normal so we can rule our any serious cardiac issue.

You are on 500 mg Depakote, 45 mg Buspar, 10 mg Abilify and 1 mg Cognetin. The doses are in low do medium range and I don’t think the chest pain is due to these medicines. Buspar or Propranolol are also not associated with such chest pain. But the chest pain or discomfort could occur due to anxiety and this can’t be ignored.

You have reduced the doses gradually and no you can stop the drugs without worries. You can stop Cognetin and Abilify. This would not cause any serious withdrawal symptoms.

The chest pain should go by own or visit a general physician for its evaluation again.

I hope this helps you. Please let me know if you need more assistance.

Thanks.
