Brief Answer:
Likely a cervical spine problem

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

This is most likely due to cervical pain, due to compression of nerves between spine.
Does this pain increases on neck movement, or any neck trauma, these may be the associated symptoms. Along with this, one may get either arm pain, tingling, numbness etc
You should get x-ray cervical spine AP/ Lat view and further may need MRI if x-ray is not informative.

You need to visit physiotherapist after x ray and also orthopedist. Till the time he can have tab neurobion forte once a day which is a nerve vitamin. If this is not helpful then you ll need Tab Pregabalin 75 mg bedtime, which is a nerve stabilizer.
Commonest cause for nausea is gastritis due to food like spicy, oily, fast food, stress, or even otherwise. In this case, one may get upper abdominal pain or heaviness, chest burning or heaviness etc. So should have antacids like Pantoprazole or lansoprazole or omeprazole before breakfast SOS.

Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.

Brief Answer:
No, it's unlikely due to this

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back,

Nausea is unlikely as a result of the cervical spine problem. However, if you had any medicines or painkillers for it then it can certainly cause nausea. Its likely a result of gastritis.

Kind regards

Thank u. My son hit me really hard on the back of the head with a golf club about a month ago. I never had it checked. Do you think it could ve caused from this? Can you tell me what long term effects could come from a cervical spinal injury and if it would heal on its on? Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Should get a CT-scan of the head done

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
Sorry to hear about it..

Now that you've disclosed, it's likely your cervical problem is due to the same trauma.

Overall, the possibility of serious long-term consequences appears to be less. It will trouble you with pain and other symptoms for which you would need a cervical collar, physiotherapy on chronic basis etc.

However, the exact nature of injury and consequences can only be reliably predicted after the CT scan of neck and head. Also, importantly you should get a CT done to rule out chronic Subdural hematoma which can present late. So worthwhile to consider CT scan followed by a Neurological opinion.

Regards

thank you. Is it possible I could be paralyzed from the cervical spinal later on? could it worsen? This happened towards the end of May so Im wondering if there could be any life threatening cases from the injury that could still be present. I will get the CAT scan. Thank you for your time. Your very knowledgeable. Please let me know. Thank u

Brief Answer:
It would have happened at the time of injury

Detailed Answer:
Paralysis would have happened at the time of injury itself, however it can progress gradually and may need electic surgery in the future. So paralysis is possible but chances are less and it has gone in chronic stage now. However, CT scan will help in assessing exact severity, nature of injury and any fracture which would predispose for paralysis in the future etc.
So chances of paralysis will be there, but less likely but should be evaluated.

Thank you doctor. I am working on getting with a neurologist today to see if I can schedule a CAT scan. If I can not schedule one today but may be a few days out do you suggest I go to the ER for one? Please let me know.

Also I have been sleeping on a couch with a futon mattress for several months now. Another doctor told me I also need to get a CAT scan for my back because he thinks I may have a herneared disc.

I need to get a new mattress. Is there one you would suggest that would be best for this. I imagind this is not the best way to sleep that I have been now. Also I have been trying to lay flat with no pillow.

Is it ok if I do moderate excercise...eat healthy while Im seeking a doctor. Thank you so much for your help. You%E2%80%99ve been a tremendous help. Please let me know. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Can wait for few days

Detailed Answer:
It doesn't appear like an emergency situation, however, if its taking long say more than a week or 10 days or if you develop any new symptoms/having a persistent headache at present/ dizziness then it's better to get a ct scan done.
It's better to avoid exercises other than routine activities till ct scan as there involves the risk of injury to the neck and we don't know the exact status of the spine at present.
Also, there is no specific brand of the mattress which is recommended, however, it should be firm and plain so that head and neck should be aligned with the body, and this is best accomplished with a small pillow under the neck and you should lie flat on your back.

Its alright

Detailed Answer:
Yes, it's alright to avoid pillow.
And yes, back of head pain is common in cervical causes as the same part is supplied by cervical nerves.
