Why Am I Losing A Lot Of Weight ?
it is expected in you and could be considered as normal
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for posting your query. I have read it and understand your health concern.
Firstly, let me tell you that the most probable cause of weight loss in you might be due to senile weakness. Most people at your age i.e. 92 years would generally be underweight, fragile, and frail. This is natural and expected. You might be eating more and still not gaining weight - This suggests that your body metabolism rate is good and high. It simply means your intestine or gut is functioning well - it is retaining the nutrients and excreting the unwanted food waste.
I would like to know what exactly is your current weight and what it was 3 to 6 months earlier. I would also like to know your height and body mass index (BMI). Also, please let me know if you have any other health symptoms like chronic cough, prolonged fever or any chronic illness, or any medical history that you think is relevant here.
If your general health status is otherwise normal, you need not worry much about your weight loss.
I would still suggest you a few measures to gain weight based on the answers you send me.
Awaiting your response.
Regards,
Dr Shanthi E
