Brief Answer:
Probably due to arthritis.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Your symptoms seem to be related to arthritis which is characterized by inflammation, swelling and tenderness of the joints.
It is very common in your age.

Some advice that I can give to you is:

-take an anti-inflammatory medication like Ibuprofen 400mg 3 times a day after food for next 2-3 days.
-use anti-inflammatory ointments (eg. Diclofenac ointment/cream) for local application
-use a cold compress to relieve the sore
-If you don't get better despite all these, you should start prescribed corticosteroids. I'd suggest you to consult with your doctor about this treatment.

With proper treatment the pain will be relieved so don't worry.

Hope my answer was helpful.
If you have any other questions feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
