Why Are Small Bruises Showing Up On My Arms For No Particular Reason?
Question: I am 74 years old in generally good health - I've noticed recently that small bruises are showing up on my arms for no particular reason. Is there something I should be concerned about or is this just a function of age?

Bruises in the lower arms, mostly in the outer areas of the lower arms can happen with age and are due to loss of elasticity of the skin with age. Generally they are small non painful bruises.
If you are having bruises in upper arms or in inner areas of the arms or you have bruises in other areas of the body than very likely they are not related to age changes of the skin and you will need to see a doctor. Presence of small bleeding spots in the skin or gum bleeding, nose bleeds, dark stools or blood with urine are other symptoms, that if present urge the need for a visit with the doctor.
To be on the safe side i would recommend you to see your doctor and have a thorough examination and maybe the doctor will ask for some tests like CBC, ERS, bleeding time, hemorrhage time and thrombocyte count to evaluate your blood and rule out problems related to coagulation and other blood diseases.
