Why Did I Experience Cold And Chills Without Fever Over And Over Apart From Imbalance Due To RA, OA And Fibromyalgia?

Question: Last night I experienced cold and chills (without fever) over and over. I also found my balance was impaired when I got up to get more blankets. I have R.A., O.A. and Fibromyalgia and just finished a prednisone push for a very painful flare in one wrist. Any idea what this could be? I also experienced muscle pain in my back (which is still there).

Brief Answer:
Likely to be due to RA activity. Discussion follows.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

RA produces inflammation in the blood vessels in addition to the joints.
It is likely that unsteadiness is due to a mild alteration of the blood flow to certain areas of the brain concerned with balance. The feeling of cold and chills can be due to vasculitis of the blood vessels supplying the skin and the muscle pain may be due to the same involving the muscles.
It would be good to reassess the RA activity with blood tests like ESR and CRP. If there is increased activity your rheumatologist would help you by adjusting the medicines.
