Brief Answer:
unfortunately this is a possible side effect

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Unfortunately amitriptyline can cause residual drowsiness and disturbance of balance in the am in some persons.
Adjusting the dose, if possible, would help reduce any lingering symptoms.

Another alternative would be using it earlier so that it is less likely that symptoms would be present in the am

If you are the minimal dose and reduction is not possible , then you and your doctor may need to consider an alternative medication.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
