Why Do I Feel Like There Is Fluid At The Back Of The Nose With Burning Sensation And Rotten Odor?
Question: Feeling like fluid in back of nose with burning and rotten odor. Just finished 10 day course of amoxicillin for greenish yellow discharge
Brief Answer:
Need to consider another course of antibiotics
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
If an odor is present, it means that the infection is persisting though it may be resolving since the discharge may have improved.
Infections are the most common reason for the present of an abnormal odor.
It may be best to get an alternative antibiotic since the 10 day amoxicillin course did not completely treat the infection. Eg Augmentin (Amox but another med), Azithromycin, Clarithromycin, Cefuroxime, Ciprofloxacin
A normal saline spray, to flush the nasal cavity, may also be helpful as well.
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions.
