Brief Answer:
different possible causes

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Urgency and discomfort on urination (dysuria) are commonly due to an infection of some aspect of the urinary tract.

The urinary tract would consist of the bladder, urethra (tube leading from the bladder, into the penis through which the urine passes), ureter, kidneys and prostate.

An urinalysis of your urine, which can be done in office, would determine if an infection is present.

If it is confirmed then a course of antibiotics would be needed. Copious use of fluids and the use of cranberry products, would also be helpful as well.

There are other causes as well-(1) enlarged prostate
(2)stone in the urinary tract though normally associated with significant abdominal pain and blood in the urine
(3) mass in the urinary tract
(4)urinary incontinence

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
