Question: I have bouts of coughing over the past two months. I feel fine. No aches, pains, or fatigue - nothing. Yet I cough. Allergy pills contain it but only to a point. What should I do.

Brief Answer:
Get done chest x ray and PFT.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

You are having chronic cough (cough for more than 2 weeks).
So we should definitely rule out lung diseases like bronchitis, lung infection etc.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system, chest x ray and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
Chest X-ray is needed to rule out lung infection.
PFT is must for the diagnosis of bronchitis.
You may need antibiotics and long acting inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone).

Please let me know
1. Do you smoke?
2. Have you undergone chest x ray recently?

Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Get done chest X-ray.

Hi,

Since you are not a smoker possibility of bronchitis is very less.
So you should at least get done chest X-ray to rule out lung infection.
