Tinea cruris, a fungal infection also called jock itch is the likely to be the cause based on your history and description.
In mild to moderate cases, a combination of topical (Clotrimazole with Hydrocortisone helps relieve the symptoms.
For instant relief, topical Calamine lotion can be applied.
Use mild soap and water and avoid anti-bacterial soaps.
Keep the area clean and dry i.e avoid any undue water exposure.
Use loose cotton clothing and avoid tight clothing to ensure proper air exposure.
If the itching persists despite the above measures, further investigations may need to done to look for parasitic/bacterial infections...Please discuss with your primary regarding this...
