Brief Answer:
As discussed in details below.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Very hard round stools indicate that you need a stool softener, the dosages and duration to be adjusted according to your needs which varies from patient to patient. Inquire with your Pharmacy and get started on minimum dosages; to be adjusted as per the effects.
Pain in the colon as you have mentioned can be due to effort by the colon to push the fecoliths or due to colitis of any sort.
If the enema has helped you so well, you may please repeat till the colon is cleared completely off the fecoliths so that the stool softeners and/or laxatives work better.
Identify the foods and beverages that help soften and easy evacuation of stool and continue.
Identify the factors like stress/anxiety, foods and beverages, long travels and so on that cause hard stools and avoid these at any cost.
Prevention is better than cure.
It is always better to get an X-ray of abdomen, ultrasonography, tests of stool, tests of blood for diabetes, thyroid which can cause constipation, clinical evaluation by your Doctor, Gastroenterologist on a safer side to rule out any specific cause of your problems by relevant further investigations.
I hope this answer helps you.
Take care.
With regards.
