Why Do I Have Slight Pain While Swallowing Liquids When I've Had A History Of Acid Reflux?
Question: Hey I have some pain when swallowing liquids (2 on a scale of 10) on the left side of my throat. No pain when swallowing chewed solid foods and no difficulty swallowing. I have looked at my throat in the mirror and there is some slight irritation but not much.
I have had acid reflux before and used medication for it, omeprazole. Will using OTC omeprazole help or should I see my gastroenterologist?
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Wait for 3 days.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Initially, I would suggest you take Omeprazole 40 mg twice daily for 3 days and gargle thrice daily with lukewarm water containing salt to relieve inflammation.
If not relieved then consult an ENT specialist. If s/he recommends then only consult a Gastroenterologist.
Hope I was helpful. Feel free to ask further. Thanks!
