Why Do I Feel Lightheaded And Off Balance With Low Iron Level?
Question: I went to dermatologist for very itchy skin all over and after ruling out allergies etc over a few weeks he determined it was due to low iron. My iron is under 10-- that test was a few weeks ago and derma told me to get with my GI As I have sever GERD and a large hiatal hernia that I am planning surgical repair for. GI appt isn't for two weeks but I have begun feeling off balance and lightheaded. I have business travel by sir for 4 days in the morning. Should I be concerned?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Hello and thank you for asking Healthcaremagic,
I understand your concern. Regarding to your symptoms and the fact that you are starting to feel lightheaded and off balance, it seems that your anemia is getting worse. My opinion is that you are loosing blood somewhere into your intestinal system. So my suggestion is to cancel this trip until you make proper examination of your intestinal system and until you exclude the reason why your iron is so low.
Until than try to avoid any kind of heavy physical work and stress.
I hope this answer was helpful to you and that you will listen to my advice and visit your gastroenterologist as soon as possible.
