Why Do We Feel More Sleepy And Tired During Fasting?

Thanks for posting your query.
Fasting is a time when we do not take the food even when we are hungry.
What we eat gets absorbed and ultimately reaches the cells where it is used in the energy generation chain called the Respiratory chain, an enzyme system that generates power for body systems.
All the living system need energy for smooth operation and food acts to supply fuel for this process.
We feel tired because we do not have enough energy for the muscles to contract smoothly for an activity.
Likewise our brain also runs on this fuel and it's supply is limited so body system uses it judiciously and we feel sleepy.
There are organs in our body whose activity is mandatory for survival like heart, liver, kidneys, brain. So in fasting state body system declares an emergency situation to save energy for these processes and makes the organism tired and sleepy so that energy is not wasted on the leasure activities. S o that is the teleological reason for this.
