Why Does Acidity Re-occur As Soon As I Complete A Course Of Medication?

Follow the advice, maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Well, first of all, try to narrow down what exactly is worsening it and how is it getting relieved (not necessarily by means of medications).
Secondly, since it's happening every other time your stopping medications, perhaps try to stick to the doctor's advice and follow them as and when advised precisely (this includes routine follow-ups to the concerned doctor as well as not to stop any medication on your own).
Next to consider is the lifestyle modifications. Time to ask yourself.
Are you following a healthy lifestyle (devoid of sedentary routines/no smoking/no alcohol/no junk foods/ daily 7-8hours of routine sleep/daily 30-45min of exercise). If not, please start doing so.
Few additional bits of advice which can be always helpful while combating this:
- Eat in small portions but at regular intervals (have 4-5 small meals a day rather than having 2-3 large meals). Never skip breakfast and always have some healthy foods in breakfast (eg. simply oven baked slices of bread, boiled eggs, oats, yogurt, muesli, idli, mildly prepared Upma etc.)
- Avoid junk/fast/processed foods completely, no soda, no excessive sugary drinks at all. Engage into a healthy snacking habit (eg. have an Apple/bowl of salad rather than having some fries/other fast foods). Have curd daily with your lunch, avoid spicy/oily foods...
- Try to maintain a healthy sleeping habit (6-8hours of sound-sleep at a fixed routine schedule)
- Try to meditate for 15-20min daily and physical exercises for about 30min (even jogging at the nearby park, indoor free-hand exercises will be helpful in the beginning)
- Please avoid smoking/alcohol (if at all do)
- Try to have your dinner at least 2-2.5 hours before the bedtime
- If already advised by your doctor then continue the antacids (by antacids, specifically referring to PPI's here i.e. PANTOPRAZOLE/RABEPRAZOLE/ESOMEPRAZOLE etc.) and stop only when you're advised to... That being said, if it's persisting despite following this for several weeks/months, then it'll be better get yourself checked up by a Gastroenterologist, get investigated (need to undergo an Upper GI endoscopy with few other tests like RUT to rule out any underlying lower esophageal pathology/ gastric erosion as well as H. Pylori infection) and proceed further.
Let me know if there're any further queries/doubts.
Take Care
Kind Regards
