Why Does My Head (and Pillow) Get "hot" When I

default
Posted on Sun, 6 Sep 2020
Question: Why does my head (and pillow) get "hot" when I lie down to sleep. I have been to a dermatoligist and she froze my "zits" and I mentioned the "itching" of my scalp and other parts of my body. She seemed OK with the lotions & shampoo I was using. The "primary problem seems early in my bed-time". When I rise in the morning the itching subsides. I don't have a temperature.

Brief Answer:
Probably contact dermatitis, follow the advice below

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your symptoms are probably related to contact dermatitis.
It is an inflammation of the scalp due to the contact with several allergens.

The allergens can be related to the detergent that you wash your pillows or other fragrances.
Another possible cause can be sweating while sleeping.
So, I recommend:
-Keep the bedroom cool
-Use gentle cleansers for the pillowcases
-Use breathable materials such as cotton and change the bedding regularly
-In case of itching use an antihistamine such as Benadryl.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards!
