Why Does My Mouth Taste Like Blood?

default
Posted on Tue, 7 Apr 2015
Question: sometimes I get a taste of blood in my mouth and if I move my tonge to the roof of my mouth I can spit blood. This occurs now and again. Would it help if I rinced my mouth with salt and water and what is the cause? My teeth bleed sometimes after brushing them. Would a sift toothbrush help?

Brief Answer:
You may be having gingivitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello

From your history , it looks like you may be having an infection/swelling of the gums , which can cause bleeding gums and mouth.

I would like you to meet your dentist , who will examine you and start you on appropriate medications for the infection.Meanwhile warm salt water gargles/mouth rinses will definitely help and i would encourage you to do it regularly. It would also be helpful if you avoid spicy and sugary foods and maintain good oral hygiene.Using a soft toothbrush will help and i would like you to use one.

Another reason may be due to deficiency of vitamin C in your body and i would like you to start on vitamin C supplements.

Please meet your dentist , he will be in the best position to help you!

Take care!

I already take Vitamin C tablets, 1 a day, from the local supermarket.
Thanks for your reply
The vitamin C may not be strong enough. I will take 2 per day instead. Do you think this will be OK?
Thanks again

Brief Answer:
One tablet is enough!

Detailed Answer:
Hello

One tablet should be sufficient and will do , you dont have to take 2 tablets for now.

Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin and excess is just excreted out in the urine, one tablet is a good dose and i suggest you continue the same.

Please meet your dentist , he will guide you further.

Take care
