I had the surapubic catheder put in after having two regular catheders put in and when each was removed I still could not urinate on my own....my bladder would not permit urine to flow. The SP which I have had for a month works fine but 5 5o 6 times daily my penis burns really bad.....the burning lasts about a minute My uralogist says it takes time for the tissue in the penis to heal but not to worry. I do not have any other urinary symptoms. Before the operation and for a considerable time I had what I called an "over active bladder"
In 2010 I had prostate cancer. I had 40 radiation treatments. The cancer is totally gone. My urologist feels that the "aftermath" of so much radiation probably has disturbed my bladder....he says it doesn't look too good.

Brief Answer:
Could be due to bladder spasms .
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up .The pain in penis could be due to spasm of the bladder secondary to supra-pubic the catheter which is common due to foreign body(catheter) reaction in addition to inflammation of the urethra due to radiation.
Please take urinary antispasmodics like Flavoxate twice daily or Darifenacin once daily .
