Why Does Sternum Move In During Sleep?

Question: Hello good evening dr
Im mother of adenoid kid morning I asked few questions.
My son sternum moves in during sleep z this to be worried. ?......????
yes his sleep is little disturbed, moves head to side yo side sometimes more.im making him sleep afternoon once for 2 hours he sleeps little comfortable, and night with disturbance.
Brief Answer:
nothing to worry about
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
Some amount of sternal retraction is normal during sleep. Just make sure that he does not have obvious sternal potrusion and his sleep is otherwise good.
If he is getting up in the morning with a good sleep then it's fine.
If you feel that when his sternum goes down, he gets breathing discomfort then you can consult a pediatrician.
Since he is comfortable sleeping in the noon then you have in all probability nothing to worry about.
Hope this helps
