Why Even After Fully Vaccinated For Covid 19 And Tested Positive?

Question: If I could I would like to respond to the queries from Dr. Klerida as follows:
- My wife did not have a fever.
- She has been fully vaccinated for Covid 19 and tested negative using the Rapid Antigen saliva test kit.
- She has taken Somac 40mg initially twice a day and then once a day which provided relief. Gaviscon has also provided relief.
At this time her symptoms have continued to improve. Her epi-gastric region has been sharpful painful and tender to the touch two days ago and she will be scheduled for ultrasound scan next week just to rule out biliary, pancreatic and aorta-related issues.
What sound like possible causes?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
Since Somac and Gaviscon are providing relief and her pain in the epigastric region, the most likely cause is gastritis/peptic ulcer disease.
She can continue to take Somac for relief. She has to avoid painkiller medications like Brufen, Aleve etc and also avoid drinking coffee and spicy food.
Ultrasound which is scheduled for next week may help to rule out other causes of pain in the epigastric region like pancreatitis.
Endoscopy may help to diagnose gastritis.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
